Mother's Day Floral Design Workshop at Botanique- A Recap
With Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I've been reflecting on the Mother's Day Floral Design Workshop we hosted last year. It's incredible how different this year looks from last. While just a few months ago I was planning to teach another Mother's Day Workshop this year, that clearly isn't possible given the current situation with COVID-19.
There is a lot of talk right now about "pivoting" amongst small businesses, and my flower peers. While Botanique may very well pivot in the coming months and years, adapting to the unknown landscape we have entered, one thing I know for sure is that teaching in-person workshops at the studio and Cutting Garden is here to stay. I don't know when we'll be able to do this again... but whenever the day comes when we can gather again in small groups, workshops will be offered again!
And with that, I leave you with some images our Mother's Day Workshop last year. The studio was filled with gorgeous spring flowers, and it smelled dreamy! Fueled by pastries from the Columbia City Bakery, and good strong coffee from Caffe Vita, we spent the morning studying color, layering and movement in floral design. Many attendees came as mother-daughter pairs, and there were a few people who were gifted the course by their kids! It was a really sweet day, filled with warmth, laughter and flowers. Looking forward to the day we can do it again!

About the Designer:
Botanique is a full-service floral and event design company based in Seattle, WA. Led by Creative Director Kelly Sullivan, we design wedding flowers and events with an organic, effortless, seasonal, elegant, and modern aesthetic for couples getting married in Washington state and beyond, including the greater Seattle area, Tacoma, Lakewood, Bellevue, Kirkland, the San Juan Islands, the Eastside, and Eastern Washington. In addition, we offer group floral classes and workshops in our Seattle studio focused on sustainable floral design techniques, as well as private, one-on-one floral design lessons. We also maintain a large cutting garden that acts as muse for our design work, and offer classes to teach you how to grow your own flowers and start your own cutting garden.
