A Classic and Elegant Jewish Wedding at The Foundry, with White and Green Florals and Candlelight

Calla lilies have a very sculptural and architectural form, which can sometimes make them tricky to work into floral designs that have a more natural, organic feel. But for this autumn wedding at The Foundry in Seattle, we intentionally played up their sculptural quality both in the bouquets and centerpieces, as they were one of the bride's favorite flowers (and we can't go leaving out the bride's favorite flowers)! We wanted to create a romantic, magical look, that also had elements of clean and classic design, so calla lilies were a natural fit.

The bride and groom married under a birch bark chuppah, which we decked out with white flowers and greenery (orchids, asparagus fern and curly willow) to give it a magical, Narnia-esque feel (yes, I'm referencing the other-worldly vibe of Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe)! We lined the aisle with an overload of candles, and the room really glowed. The head table design included a long, organic greenery garland with petite bud vases of single-element arrangements, and some taller arrangements that again showcased the beautiful lines of the white calla lilies (along with the delicate gesture of maidenhair fern). We split the rest of the reception tables between two designs- tall, stately arrangements to make a big impact in the space, and centerpieces composed of collections of pillar candles and simpler bud vases that showcase a single type of flower. All the linens were black, making the white florals really stand out. This wedding lived right on the edge between sculptural and organic, modern and classic, and was most definitely filled with romance and warmth. Enjoy!
