GATHER + DESIGN
October 6th, 2024 from 10am-4pm
The transition from summer to fall is marked by gorgeous textures, abundant blooms, and plants ripe with seed and fruit. In this special, full-day workshop, we will tune into the vibration of the season, creating gorgeous arrangements that mirror what is happening in the garden, as well as spending time in the garden itself- learning about flower growing, harvesting and seed saving through hands-on experience.
We’ll begin the day in the Cutting Garden, where Kelly Sullivan, Owner and Creative Director of Botanique, will show you how, when and where to harvest flowers for maximum vase life, and to encourage plants to re-bloom throughout the season. Considerations for sustained plant health will also be addressed. Next, you will learn how to harvest seed from a variety of different plants, and we will talk through the details of how to process and store seed to ensure next year’s crop. You will then be set free in the garden with clippers and seed envelopes in hand, invited to harvest a bucket of your favorite blooms to design with later in the day, and collect seed for your own garden.
After a delicious lunch, we’ll regroup in Botanique’s studio for a design lesson where you will learn how to create a beautiful, seasonal floral arrangement using the flowers you harvested earlier in the day, as well as gorgeous blooms from local flower growers. Kelly will guide you through the design process, and each participant will make their own beautiful arrangement to take home.
This workshop is open to all levels. Registration will be capped at 10 participants, and early registration is advised.
